Working With Candida

This condition involves the overgrowth of the fungus, candida albicans, which normally exists at ecological equilibrium in the testiness, genital tract, throat and mouth. Under certain conditions, this fungus proliferates, weakening the immune system, causing infections and a wide host of symptoms including but not limited to vaginitis, heightened environmental sensitivities, GI disturbances, muscle and joint pain, acne, depression, congestion, hypothyroidism and adrenal insufficiencies. Antibiotic usage, impaired immunity, nutrient and digestive deficiencies, altered bowel flora and impaired liver function can all contribute to candida overgrowth. Recommendations include identifying the predisposing factors, following a candida control diet, supporting the digestive and immune systems and promoting an effective detoxification and elimination program.
